I predict big socio-racial upheaval by 2030, followed by the collapse of urban infrastructure. The preppers who formed prepper villages in the countryside inherit civilization. Jesus returns and Pope Francis burns alive.

This is based on Chinese history. All of these problems and trends that could be observed within China can probably be extrapolated to apply to the globalised world of 2019. It's all going to shit as seen before. Look close and you'll see that even incels have historical precedent.

this is some mad autistic shit.
I like it.

please sir may I have some more?

(I'm not sure that Chinese cultural trends and western cultural trends are really the same though... I'd expect things to be far less predictable now that so much of the world has changed alongside the multitude of technological revolutions. Not even China can really be expected to follow the same path as before, desu. The ability of the state to project power externally and internally has been multiplied a thousandfold, the world over.)

"nasty, brutish and short" has been replaced with "nasty, brutish and long"

I'm going to vent and rant for a bit, I found this thread and thought it might be the right place for it, as my post isn't worth a whole new topic.

I'm worried about the future. I'm worried about the impact that ever increasing, ever more accessible DOPAMINE BLASTS will have on developing children. And there's no way to stop it. Kids aren't growing up with VHS tapes that they have to have the patience to rewind, they have HD YouTube Fun Colors Happy Finger Family Baby Shark Ball Spiderman Elsa Unboxing playlists that go on until the iPad batteries run out, and they never do. Do you think that the 50% (is it more?) of kids that are born out of wedlock are going to be given the attention, discipline, and healthy restriction from INSTANT DOPAMINE that they need to develop properly?

No, it's going to be absolute agony for them to be away from those screens. My friend has a kid and he's glued to the screen, you take that away from him it's like taking crack away from an addict, he flips out.

I don't know how we're going to last a decade, how about a century? When some genius figures out that there's a visual light pattern you can overly on video that's the equivalent of ASMR only a hundred times stronger. When some pioneer discovers a way to make porn better. We have come so far with civilization that we don't realize that we are hurdling towards something so undesirable. The final destination of this technological journey is not one where human happiness has improved, that is the after thought, the only thing that has improved is GDP per capita, and our ability to make ourselves instantly happy through a quick hit of Dopamine.

I have a sense that its going to back fire in some weird way. In order for the release of dopamine to occur the information the brain receives needs to be new, it doesn't need to be good. Its quantitatively responsive not qualitative, sure there will be a large portion of the population that will be satisfied with a rearranging of words in the headlines and tweets and insta hits but I think a large enough portion of the population will become information mutants thriving on new info. Insidious entities require secrecy to grow and thrive and i think its going to be hard to do that on a generation addicted to info.

I think Alfred Bester best summed up my oppinion on our current age in his book The Stars My Destination "This was a golden age, a time of high adventure, rich living and hard dying . . . but nobody thought so. This was a future of fortune and theft, pillage and rapine, culture and vice. . . but nobody admitted it. This was an age of extremes, a fascinating century of freaks . . . but nobody loved it."

It may backfire, perhaps the end will be all of us hooked up in orgasmo VR float tanks, pumping in Soma on the regular starting at age 18, with a dose that increases exponentially each day. If it's not lethal, you could be in a state of ecstasy for years. Thank God some of us are driven by more than the search for the pleasure sensation.

That was a great book btw. If I'm remembering right, there was a character in it that the protagonist encountered that had put himself into a completely numb space and state of mind, in some kind of sensory deprivation tank, the exact opposite of the hypothetical orgasmo VR tank.
