Elephant (2003) has always been excellent to me, even if it might be ultimately pointless.
Was it Van Sants ultimate attempt at realism

Hakaider slapped real, real hard, that was a great fucking film. These late 80s-90s are the last of Japanese cinema being worthwhile, so its always sick to find more cool shit form the period. Figure I aught to recommend some stuff, then.
These two films are quintessential non-narrative film, with *Corpus Callosum being basically a comedy and Dog Star Man something of a traditional film, I would say coming close to the conventions of the Dream/Acid Westerns or other such introspective masculine affairs. *CC is a real good casual watch, with enough depth to make it worthwhile to engage with, but Dog Star Man needs more occasion I feel, but is ultimately the more gripping of the two. Either way, both flicks are very action-packed and beautiful, full of crazy shit that doesn't initially make a lot of sense. Both too much fun.

Since we did Duel to the Death on Movie Night which ranks as one of the best Chinese produced Ninja movies, here is Ninja Wars, one of the Best Japanese produces Ninja movies.

If it's got the Yoku stamp of approval then I'm in. Gonna watch this now.

I watched the LOTR trilogy again recently. I've seen Fellowship a bunch of times and know it by heart basically, but I'd only seen Two Towers and ROTK once and that was in theaters when I was an adolescent, so I didn't remember anything. It was great to revisit it, and I wept like a bitch at the end when Frodo said goodbye to his friends. Such an amazing story.
