Stuff to follow

There's tons of interesting stuff to keep track of on the web, but some of it is really hard to find unless you know to look for it. Especially in recent times when everything seems to be conglomerating into giants like Reddit, Twitter and Hacker News. ITT let's curate stuff

New York socialist yuppie scene
There is this tiny group of highly socialized humanities grads who all seem to be in New York and hang out in the same circles. They are too small to be in the general public eye, disproportionate to the amount of influence they seem to have on the mainstream. They all follow each other on Twitter and Instagram and have ~6000 followers each. Some major centers are the podcasts ChapoTrapHouse (basically mainstream at this point), Red Scare and Cumtown. Around them is a web of "weird twitter" people like @dril, @getfiscal and others who came out of SomethingAwful. Their discourse is mostly laid-back but they have a strong heirarchy. Their following seems to be growing really fast.

L0de Radio Hour
Extremely consistent weekly call-in show. Think, like, Waffle House at 2AM. Or maybe a strip mall dive bar back alley. Tarot card readings. People often set up fake "free stuff" craigslist ads pointing to the call-in number, if the caller seems like a dirtbag they get pranked. If you don't have anything better to do on a Friday night the l0de radio hour is there for you.

PostmarketOS
New versions of Android and its apps often increase hardware requirements way faster than they increase in provision of actual utility. This means phones with really capable hardware become obsolete really quickly. To combat this, PostmarketOS contributors are getting Alpine Linux to run on a ton of old phones in an extremely systematized and organized way. Alpine Linux is way more scalable than Android, and gives new life and utility to this would-be-obsolete "post-market" hardware you yourself probably have lying around.

Exotic edible plants
There is a big group of people growing obscure foreign edible fruits! Some you can even grow indoors as really awesome houseplants! Check out Logees.com, Ourfigs.com, Bananas.org, on YouTube Weird Fruit Explorer and David the Good, among others!

Assorted people I follow

Sv3rige - greenpilled disciple of Aajonus Vonderplanitz, subsists on a very pure diet of raw meat and juiced vegetables. Anti-Vegan activist, enemy of the NWO, Illuminati and the Annunaki. Flat Earther and Sun gazer
https://www.youtube.com/user/sv3rige

BigHerc916 - Personal motivational and positive energy based channel from the guy who does the Fresh Out of the Penitentiary. Very naively sincere and actually motivational
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQgPah ... UWBxNrzemg

Elisha Long - Monkmode, nofap, self-improvement. Formerly had a RSD/PUA slant to him but seems to have outgrown that. Positive vibes.
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCvF7Ll ... w0KZJsVNXQ

Jason Genova/The Delray Misfits - unfortunately
https://www.youtube.com/user/TheJasongenova
https://www.youtube.com/user/DelDrew

EatDaPussy445 - Eagles fan extraordinaire, toilet clogger, deep in the porn game, better promo than anyone currently in the WWE
https://www.youtube.com/user/eatdatpussy445

David Bull - Japanese Woodblock printmaker, has basically singlehandedly saved the artform from a slow death, deeply knowledgeable on the history
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKSrgK ... xCAyTZP5cQ

Xtra Spice Mikey - bedroom producer seemingly trapped in an amber timecapsule of early 90s UK rave, raw jungleism on proper hardware innit, check it out if you're into Amiga trackers , S950 samplers and rackmount synths
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaiGS9 ... OFTfckqYXg

The Book Club - pretty new channel, esoteric /polit/ energy, incomprehensible but oddly watchable 'reviews' of various books
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC70DBZ ... dx49McB6NA

Studio Practice - contemporary art/graphic design, artist in residence at some university, has some interesting takes
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC_1qls ... orbUg4k3RA

Definitely not everyone I follow but some of the one's that stick out in my mind.

I always had a hunch that weird twitter was basically twitter socialist humor. Not surprising to see the connection. The $5 access forum has spawned some really cancer groups.

Also adding one of my favorites, MrChiCity3. Recent return and more active on Insta, but still a noteworthy man.

I've dealt with New York socialist scene in person a little bit. They hate my fucking guts.

As to best stuff to follow, I'd recommend AvE. I actually watch a ton of carpentry / steelworking / engineering channels but AvE has the best personality and I like his non-workshop videos, like when he filmed a canoe trip through BC:

Most of his channel is small construction projects, tool reviews and good old fashioned workshop bullshitting

Jamie Mantzel

some of the videos are boring vlogs others give a unique look into the life of a self made millionaire island dweller who builds his own crazy contraptions and amazing machines in the swamps of south america (my dad showed me this)

Chycho
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCe4HBB ... ir4LjXU8fA
a lot of interesting discussions, comic talk, math pretty much anything.

jim c swim
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCYwVxW ... u8TML-Te9A
Videos and compilations of prison interviews with intrusive analysis and additive commentary.

stringanime
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCrtLMZ ... aBNFRbNQ1A
personal friend of mine and professional animator, you may have seen some of his work in a ice tea or Toyota commercial

touhou classic reimu
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCp0C2J ... DDjLF0LLvA
one of my favorite web artists and online characters, claiming anime drawings are poor cartoon children causes much upset among anime posters.

I like to think that I’m mostly a likeable guy, as I can adapt to most kinds of personality types, but I have a feeling that a meeting with one of the New York socialists would end in blood and a felony charge.
I’ve got a really good nose for people pretending to be friendly, and by God do I hate their guts

from a /lit/ post:
chappie trappie exists to confirm biases and pat tushes in a platonic baseball dugout kind of way
"bread tubes" or Condé Points' little vimeo clout gang are the ones that have been workshopping desperately for the last 2 or so years to entrap those "edgy" pep-ay tweens who say "the n word" and "ableist slurs" with wry johnny olly wit and judd apatow skits
that hasn't been successful either
none of this shit is really working for them
slick way to wash your drug money though :-)

I follow some "alt-right" micro streams including Ovfuckyou on YouTube, it starts Sunday 3pm Pacific and can go from 12 to 48 hours.
It has an interesting culture around it as Jews and Wignats (wigger or white trash nationalist) go on and bantz together and talk about current events.
It has some cute subplots involving people who are drawn to the movement for attention and see it as low hanging fruit for followers. One includes a Chinese woman who wants to convert the west to secular koranism in an attempt to restore the patriarchy. Another is a female yoga teacher who has formed her own cult based on quantum reincarnation and wants to create a theocracy with herself as the head of it.
If you check out one stream it's easy to follow them all as they all go on each others and reference them.

Our boy Samuel "Sammy Gunz" Hyde put out an email saying he's finally got his work flow down (or something) and is supposed to be putting out new content every month now.

Charls has a talk show going that I've watched a few times and just recently put out a really good video called Mr. Pregnant on Bombstrap

If you're into banjo check out Steve Harrison on YouTube, good educational videos.
