MUSIC THREAD

Post by SpaceLions » Thu Apr 25, 2019 12:03 pm

I am normally an electronic kind of guy. Other times I am a jazz and classical kind of guy, considering I've played both on trumpet since I was 10. But I have such a soft, soft, part in my heart for true and honest to God country music. This thread is for anyone who wants to share a tune. For me? This is one of the overlooked masterpieces in the Appalachians. Old Sand Mountian, Alabama. May God rest his raspy, beautiful soul. Makes me think of my grandad. "He died like a man, he died like a man, he died like a man."

Speaking of my grandad, he shared this song with me when I was very little. He heard it growing up in the depression era and I always have loved it.

Here's one of my favorites, this should be a link to the full album as a playlist.

I'm a big fan of harsh or odd vocals in folk music.

Here are two of my favourites:

Appalachian singer Roscoe Holcomb

And English singer Peter Bellamy
Reprobate scion of doomed Saxon clans

For now hell's all around us
No rubber devils
No smell of sulphur
But hell nonetheless
Hell more grotesque than any medieval woodcut
