Re: WHAP THWEAD
kool keith is the greatest of all time, no one is even close...i will refrain from turning this into a kool keith appreciation thread and try to post other worthwhile wraps
for modern stuff i think this guy is super underrated, i think he produced all of the tracks on this record as well
this stuff was pretty popular for a bit and just kinda faded away...always liked the idea of self-proclaimed "thugs" just frying on mdma and trying to act hard, mac dre seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor about it all...nump - i got grapes is another good example of this style
great band, great album, great wraps...every album thru 2000 is a classic, impossible to pick a favorite... even though most people will default to paul's boutique i tend to appreciate the records where they play instruments a bit more as i get older...although if i turn on "Car Thief" i will immediately reject all else as inferior
the ubiquity of the "jiggy lazer" sound of the late 90s/early 2000s is enough to dismiss a lot of this shit outright, but i'm a fan...fam-lay was definitely underrated/unknown but this track pops into my head a lot...
