You know it's really funny upon relistening how the guy mentions him playing this song in Japan when there's so much about this song that shares conventions with Japanese folk music. The pattern in which he strums, the chords very unconventional and almost regal, the way the strings fade out of audibility and are replaced with howling, vibrato vocals that maintain a lot of reverb. I believe firmly in the idea of the Gunslinger/Ronin-Wild West/Shogunate connection, and this shit is hitting my confirmation bias clit with a Hibachi wand.

I'm in the process of making a single video mixtape in the style of "Doomer music." Instead of the usual affair of The Smiths and Radiohead and the like, this playlist will be comprised entirely of electronic music, a genre very near and dear to my very soul. Lots of styles are represented, most are not what you'd dance to, and I try as hard as I can to capture the "Doomer" feel without pandering too hard to my own personal taste.
The video is currently still being worked on because Sony Vegas can get fucking sent to the gulag for the amount it refuses to work, so please enjoy this obnoxiously long Youtube link list of all the songs in order that will appear in said video. Apologies if you have to continuously adjust your volume, I fixed the level issues in the final product.
Enjoy.

I've always been a pretty big Frank Zappa fan.
He has a wide collection of albums of varying styles, so I'm sure you could find something you like and invest some time in listening to his 62 album discography.
Here are some of my favorites:

Recently I've been on a big 50's Rhythm and Blues/Rock kick here are some good ones:

Absolutely Free is in my top 10. I played King Kong in front of a church crowd with two of my jazz band buddies and nobody got it lol

That's hilarious man, I can picture how that went over perfectly in my head.
I love Frank Zappa's sense of humour
